Developing the Person, Not Just the Athlete

Looking ahead: your vision beyond basketball

Purpose

For many of you, sports are a big part of your life. But they should never become your entire identity. One day, every athlete plays their last game — whether that's after high school, college, or a professional career, the game eventually ends. The question is: who will you be when it does? As a coach, my responsibility isn't just to help you become a better athlete. It's to help prepare you to become a successful person. This assignment is a thinking tool for the road ahead — a way to create a vision for your future. Imagine you have reached your projected college graduation successfully. What does your life look like? Who have you become? What does that life feel like?
